Exclaim.ca: "What has been your strangest celebrity encounter?"
John K: "Michael Jackson. Michael's handlers arranged a meeting with Michael and me at Neverland. This went on for months and months and months until finally it happened. The deal was that Michael wanted to start a family network: The Michael Jackson Family Network - but real family entertainment that both kids and adults loved. Michael loved my cartoons because kids and adults loved Ren & Stimpy. You see, when you put "family" in front of entertainment, it is generally everything but. My animation partner Kevin and I went to Neverland and waited for a while. You see, Michael really likes to build suspense. The other weird thing about Neverland - it has a lot of fake people all around: a fake butler and maid and fake kids on couches and such. But the real treat of Neverland was the paintings on the wall. One was a painting of Michael holding hands with kids of every race walking down the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City. Another one was of Michael as Joan of Arc. And these paintings must have cost a ton of money. Eventually someone came and got us and brought us into a room with a bunch of guys with dark hair and big brown eyes. All of these guys had all met Michael when they were really young and they all were going to be executives in this new network. Michael eventually showed up in the room wearing pyjamas. I found out really quickly that the guys in the room where all hangers on and wanted me to animate all ideas. Michael loved the cartoons, especially the "Pee Boner" cartoon. Michael was doubled over in laughter saying that: "This guy knows what the kids want." Interestingly enough, none of the "hangers on" thought that my work was funny - it probably brought back too many traumatic childhood experiences. I will save the Steven Spielberg meeting for later."

"According to their accounts, the superstar followed the same pattern: After gaining their trust and grooming them to be emotionally attached to him, he convinced them that what was happening was OK and scared them into not telling anyone about it.
It's an awful litany of psychological and physical violations, but the interviews with the men and their mothers, siblings and wives -- if you believe them -- help explain the overwhelming power of Jackson's charisma and influence. The accusation here is that Jackson wooed the parents with lavish shopping trips, cars and promises of career boosts for Robson and Safechuck, and won over the moms, especially, by confiding how empty his own life was.
The self-delusion of these mothers, who find ways to justify letting their sons sleep in the same bed with a grown man, is astounding. So is the ignoring of so many troubling signs. Jackson installs a fax machine into a boy's home so he can send daily affectionate messages? Well, he's lonely. Jackson spends six or seven hours on the phone talking to a boy who lives overseas? Ditto."

Alex Rudolph I couldn’t disagree with you more. Jackson and his family have been telling their story since the first allegations of child sex abuse came out in the early 90s.

As far as evidence, these kinds of things don’t always have evidence. Grooming doesn’t le…See More

Alex Rudolph Victoria Pagac The FBI documents are mostly heavily-redacted collections of paperwork, files, etc. I don’t know what you got from these that led you to believe he isn’t guilty of molesting at least two children https://vault.fbi.gov/Michael%20Jackson

Alex Rudolph Maciek Kur I don’t know what to tell you. Not all guilty people go to prison, not all people in prison are guilty. We don’t live in a world that rewards and punishes people in a good/bad binary. At the very least, he slept in the same bed as a bunch of children. Draw the line where you will.

Mark Milano Victoria Pagac You need to watch the entire documentary. I trust the two men I saw telling their stories for four hours. There’s no way they lied throughout those heartbreaking interviews. If you can’t see that, you are letting your fan worship blind you.

Mark Milano Andrew Snarls Yes, you're not allowed to dismiss the testimony of people who allege child abuse until you hear their entire story. If, after watching their complete interviews, you choose to disbelieve, that's your choice. But you need to give them at least the courtesy of hearing their full story before you decide.

Mark Milano The court case has already been dismissed due to statute of limitations. At a minimum, they deserve a fair hearing. Their testimony is extremely credible.

Mark Milano Andrew Snarls If you watch their entire interviews, they explain very clearly the pressure they were under to lie when they were still children. Accusers are often forced to lie - you need to read more about the trauma of child sexual abuse survivors.

Alex Rudolph Andrew Snarls If your distrust is hinging on Robson and Safechuck being paid, good news— they weren’t paid. There’s no financial benefit to coming forward, reliving your trauma in an incredibly public way, getting hounded by conspiracy theorists who believe you’re lying, regardless of what you say, etc.

Mary Faught Mark Milano you mean the one sided mockumentary that even Robson's and Safechuck stories don't match the the timeline and did you know in 2005 Robson asked Michael Jackson could he get marry on Neverland to his wife awhile he on trial that's not in the movie. If you did 20 mins of research on those guys you would find out the they are liars. (They need money bad for fact Safechuck is getting sued for awhile now from family members because someone left money for the whole family when this person died. They are saying he took it all. It is public record.) You know they are in the entertainment business right? so they know how to act to fool the audiences. Now in Australia they cut out like 55 mins each of the movie before director send to them. Explain that

[ATTEMPTED POST] Ted Watts The important thing is that we can all come together and remember that John K admitted to having a 16 year old girlfriend, and we have pictures of him at her 15th birthday party because he started grooming her when she was 14, and that whether or not Michael Jackson did what he is accused of, John K has admitted to doing approximately what Jackson is accused of (on the cheap, of course).
